I actually enjoyed their indoor show. They were in a highly competitive class and actually improved over the previous year.

Again? I hadn't heard this. Details? They had rebounded nicely last season too.

Sadly, Greendale had to withdraw from this regional due to this weekend being a very heavy athletic competition weekend. Would’ve had about 30 students missing.

Would not be surprised in the least bit if Carmel takes this show by more than 5 points.

I would like to see if anyone has any updated predictions about this regional with the marching band season coming up. To me, this is one of the most intriguing regionals of the early season.

Hamilton Southeastern is from Indiana not Ohio, I believe.

Remember how they even beat Centerville at Bellbrook's MSBA show last year, not to mention Lakota West and Sycamore, and were just a half-point behind Kettering. They move a lot, and their musical arrangements, invariably of one rock performer (2014 -- The Rolling Stones; 2015 -- The Who; 2016 -- Rush; 2017 -- Muse; and this year, I think it's Peter Gabriel) tend to be original and pretty complex. If only they could polish a bit more for the later season! Curious how they'll find the clinic, and how the clinicians will find them.
So Beavercreek's show is apparently not Peter Gabriel music but a collection of 1970s pop tunes under the title "Mirror Ball". That alone is a change from their shows going back many years, each of which was titled "The Music of [artist]". From what I've seen, my initial impression is that they're also changing up their overall style a bit. Less marching while playing, more standstill and body movement. That's disappointing to me, but it's early, so I'm not making up my mind yet.

But will the drill be more modern and less OMEA?

For those not familiar with the reference, OMEA still tends to reward bands for marching in blocks rather than using complex forms and maneuvers.

Looks like I will be switching back and forth between McAllen and this contest next Saturday. I am so curious what Carmel has going on with that theme, I am not really familiar with most of the other schools, but I am curious! Same with a good number of bands at the McAllen contest, tho many of them are starting to make a name for themselves.

Saw them tonight. Very good, great music including Ride of the Valkyrie.
